The Heraldic Symbol and Arms of the
THOMAS O'SHAUGHNESSY
MEMORIAL PIPE BAND
Long Island, New York

The central theme is a cross representing Tommy's
Christian upbringing.  The Celtic Cross specifically,
of the ancient Scots and Irish.

Surrounded by a wreath of shamrocks, a national
emblem of Ireland and representative of Tommy's
family heritage.

Joined at the base by thistles in tribute and recognition
of Tommy's earlier days as Pipe Major of the Yonkers
Kilty Pipe Band.

All surmounted by an American Eagle symbolizing
Tommy's Military Service to his Country in time of war,
and now at peace, the Eagle is in repose, in graceful
and dignified calmness.

St. Patrick's Day Parade
in 2002.

This incredible emblem
was designed by Tommy's
childhood friend Richard
Crawford as a tribute to
their lifelong friendship.
It adorns the Bass drum
of the Band.  Many thanks
to Dick for this touching
tribute.
Our Thomas O'Shaughnessy Memoiral Tartan has officially been entered
